Want To Hire? Think "Retire"

As if things could get any tougher in the hiring market: A new study from the independent Employee Benefit Research Institute shows that retirement plans are becoming ever more crucial in attracting and retaining workers at companies that have fewer than 100 employees. Among the 602 surveyed companies that offered a plan, 33% cited "recruiting advantages" as what's driving their retirement benefits, up from 24% in 1998.

Plans are also key to keeping employees happy: 28% of companies said they offered them because they improved employee morale, up from just 16% last year.
