The conventional wisdom is that the biggest threat to the amazing U.S. economy is a stock market correction. In this view, the expansion's main fuel comes from the exhilarating impact of rising stock market wealth on household spending. Take away that tonic, and consumption and economic growth would lose steam in a hurry.
