Why Russia Needs A Cash Economy
Russia's evolution into a true market economy has stalled out. Nothing proves this point better than the bizarre finances of what appears to be one of its most successful and profitable companies, Avtovaz, maker of the country's best-selling auto, the Zhiguli. The company posted record sales of $3.8 billion last year but somehow hasn't been able to come up with $1.9 billion in taxes due the government. Why?
