Tuesday, July 21, 8:30 a.m.EDT -- Housing starts probably totaled an annual rate of 1.55 million in June, slightly higher than the 1.53 million pace in May. That's the median forecast of economists surveyed by Standard & Poor's MMS, a unit of The McGraw-Hill Companies. Starts have slipped for three months in a row, but the level remains high by historical standards. Low mortgage rates and strong financial fundamentals lifted home buying to record levels this spring.
