It's an apt description of Yam, too: As head of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, he has already ridden off several times to rescue the Hong Kong dollar's peg to the U.S. greenback. That link is seen as an essential element in Hong Kong's stability, and if it goes, panic selling could rock Asia once more.
