Dirty Tricks From Mack Trucks?

PROGRAMMED TO POLLUTE? The Justice Dept. on June 15 filed a civil suit alleging that Mack Trucks is selling diesel engines equipped with devices that defeat emission-control systems. Justice says the trucks' electronic fuel-injection systems are programmed in such a way that they emit illegally high amounts of nitrogen oxide on the road but appear to conform to Clean Air Act standards when tested. The feds want no more engines like these sold and a recall of those on the road. The suit follows recent settlements with Honda's U.S. operations and Ford on similar charges.
