If you haven't filed your taxes yet, you're not alone--just in the minority. Some 14% of 303 small-business owners polled recently said they usually get extensions, and 7% don't start until a week before Apr. 15. Some of them may be the same ones who keep receipts in the proverbial shoebox (15%). Most business owners are more organized, though. Roughly half start preparing three months ahead, and 25% allow at least a month. Three-quarters file receipts and use accountants. Only 10% use tax preparation software; 4% dump the job on a spouse.
