U.S.: Savor Those Rates While They Last

At this pace, the Fed will have to tap on the brakes before yearend

As widely expected, the Federal Reserve let interest rates ride at its Sept. 30 meeting. For now, Greenspan & Co. see no urgency to tighten policy, and Wall Street knows it will take hard evidence that a rate hike is justified before the Fed is willing to act. So the question for the outlook is: When, if ever, will that evidence emerge?
