The red-brick two- and three-story houses seem to be going up along every newly paved road. The markets are filled with all manner of goods from Europe, the Mideast, and the Far East, and the government has decided to build itself a new capital from scratch. "Our aim is to become the economic engine for the entire Russian North Caucasus," boasts Ingush President Ruslan Aushev.
