The steel industry hasn't typically been a hotbed of entrepreneurialism, but ex-Nucor exec KEITH BUSSE has his year-old company, Steel Dynamics, off to a fast start. Busse's low-cost minimill began making steel far more rapidly--and profitably--than a slew of other Nucor wannabes. Now, after a successful IPO that raised $150 million, Busse plans to build up a full-line steelmaker with costs well below old-line rivals'.
