He Comes To Bury Mitterrand Not To Praise Him

Regarding "The legacy of a political chameleon" (Commentary, Jan. 22), other than politically correct respect for an elderly statesman, I cannot point to a single positive achievement for which history should remember the late French president, Francois Mitterrand. I don't believe he "helped France shake off the ghosts of a divisive past." A deeply confused nation is trying to reinvent itself, domestically, within Europe, and globally.
