Help On The Road
Two-way paging technology is brand new, but already the ability to receive information and send back short bursts of data is moving way beyond the beeper. Motorola, SkyTel, and Prince have teamed up to develop AutoLink, a system that will summon roadside assistance, track down a car's location, and provide automatic notification if someone attempts to break into an automobile. The system has a paging function, too. First use will be on fleets, with factory installation in new cars expected to be available for 1998 models.
