Murdoch's Latin Deal

Rupert Murdoch is spreading his global reach to Latin America. His News Corp. has teamed up with Mexico's Grupo Televisa and Brazil's Organizacoes Globo in a deal to broadcast 150 channels, mostly in Spanish and Portuguese, by satellite. U.S. cable giant Tele-Communications Inc. is also a partner. The venture is chasing more than 400 million potential viewers in the region. Murdoch expects a million subscribers will be ready to pay at least $500 for a satellite dish when his service begins in May of 1996.
