Investment Figures Of The Week

COMMENTARY
The U.S. stock market could be summed up in one word: Wow. The Dow Jones
industrial average closed above 5000 for the first time on Nov. 21, rising 40
points to end the day at 5023.6. The rally was spurred on by hope for a cut in
short-term rates and sentiment that the budget impasse in Washington would give
way to reduced deficits. Cheery economic sentiment also boosted stocks earlier
in the week. But bonds were sluggish, with the price of 30-year Treasuries
      falling slightly on Nov. 21.
