They may be mere cartoons to the rest of the world. But to Walt Disney Co., its animated films are money machines, producing billions in revenues in recent years. With the rush of new cash, however, the salaries of animators have soared. Little wonder, then, that Disney executives seem pleased by Toy Story, which they are trumpeting as Hollywood's first computer-animated movie.
