Investment Figures Of The Week

COMMENTARY
Declining interest rates sent U.S. stocks soaring. On Oct. 13, the Dow Jones
industrial average climbed 29 points to 4794, just short of the record, as
long-term bond yields fell to their lowest level in nearly two years. Traders
were reacting to a government report that consumer prices had risen a bit less
than expected in September. But bond yields rose on Oct. 18, as traders
expressed concern that the Federal Reserve would not cut interest rates.
Technology and financial stocks were strong.
