Why Outside Directors Have Nightmares

FOR CORPORATE DIRECTORS these days, getting slapped with a lawsuit is almost part of the job description. A new Louis Harris poll of 500 outside directors finds that more than 40% have been targets of a suit. Worse, they feel that the company-provided insurance coverage for suits falls short of the mark. Almost one-third of those polled have declined to serve on a board--or resigned from one--because of insurance worries.
