A Little Fresh Air On Windows 95

The "Gee whiz!" tone with which your "Windows 95" Cover Story (July 17) treats the new operating system was amusing. Every single new feature the article describes has been available from Apple Computer Inc. for over a decade. I've been plugging-and-playing, double-clicking and finding files in the blink of an eye for almost eight years now with the Macintosh System 7 operating system, and I see nothing revolutionary about Microsoft's new brainchild.

I was pleasantly surprised by your cover story's objectivity. It showed that Windows 95's "innovations" are already in products from Apple and IBM, and that it's not necessarily the best operating system available. Finally, a publication not brainwashed by Microsoft!
