Sanctions Play In Peoria

U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor frets that opinion-setting elites around the world are siding with Japan against the U.S. vow to double tariffs on Japanese luxury cars. But mainstream America is cheering the Clintonites on. A May 22-26 nationwide survey of 1,000 recent voters by EPIC/MRA of Lansing, Mich., found that 71% favor the sanctions as a way to force Japan to open its market to U.S. cars and auto parts. Only 20% oppose the tariffs.
