Investment Figures Of The Week

COMMENTARY
      Yet another topsy-turvy week in the financial markets. The biggest news--the 
      Republican juggernaut seizure of Capitol Hill--prompted a curiously blase 
      reaction on Wall Street. After an initially sharp gain earlier in the day, 
      stocks settled back. The Dow Jones industrial average ended the day on Nov. 9 
      with a gain of one point. Earlier in the week, stocks fell because of concerns 
      that the Federal Reserve may act to boost interest rates. With oil stocks and 
      utilities taking the worst hits, the Dow took a 38-point decline on Nov. 4.
