Job Killers: What Kuttner Missed

Robert Kuttner's commentary "Where have all the good jobs gone?" (Economic Viewpoint, Aug. 29) misses one of the most important reasons that the U.S. generates more new service jobs than new manufacturing jobs: American taxes. Manufacturing jobs require capital investments that can reach several hundred thousand dollars per worker. Yet the U.S. taxes capital much more heavily than income.
