Gary S. Becker's column "Neither rain nor sleet nor good idea shall shake up the postal system" (Economic Viewpoint, June 20) stunned me with its inaccuracies. For example, postmasters have not been politically appointed since 1971. And the expedited-mail market was started by the U.S. Postal Service in 1970 and not by Federal Express.
