Not All Growth Is Equal

Iagree with "America's New Growth Economy" (Cover Story, May 16). But I disagree with the opening reference of your editorial to the Club of Rome's concern in the '70s about the depletion of [the Earth's] resources. "Boy, were they wrong," you say. In view of the rate at which the rain forest is being devastated, perhaps they were not so wrong--just premature. And considering the children dying of hunger and poverty-caused illnesses, something may be wrong with growth itself.
