A Jump In Executive Hires Signals A Global Surge For Sales

If Korn/Ferry International's latest survey of its 1,500 clients is any indication, corporations spy a global expansion ahead. The executive-search firm reports that worldwide demand for senior executives came in 21% higher last quarter than its year earlier level.

The biggest rise last quarter was recorded in Europe, where executive hiring was up by 36%, followed by gains of 26% and 15% in North America and Latin America. Only in Asia did executive hiring slip by 2%, as Japan's recession offset stronger hiring in several fast-growing Pacific Rim nations. A Korn/ Ferry spokesman says that surging demand for marketing and sales executives points to "tremendous new consumer markets on the horizon."
