Parson Thomas Malthus is alive and well and living at the U.N. Rising population is on a collision course with limited growth in food supplies and other life-sustaining resources. That may sound like a sentence from the 1798 Malthus classic, An Essay on the Principles of Population, but it was in fact one of the themes at a recently concluded U.N. conference that paves the way for a massive meeting on population next September in Cairo.
