Manufacturing, wholesale, and retail trade inventories probably increased 0.3% in January, according to the median forecast of economists surveyed by MMS International, a division of McGraw-Hill Inc. Business inventories were flat in December, but extreme winter weather caused a backup in stock levels in early 1994, including a 0.3% advance already reported in factory inventories.
