Investment Figures Of The Week
A worrisome week in the U.S. equity markets. Sparked by a Federal Reserve decision to hike the federal funds rate from 3% to 3.25%, stocks tumbled across the board on Friday, Feb. 4. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 96 points, to 3871, a 2.4% decline, and broader indexes--and bonds--also tumbled. Investors caught their breath over the weekend, and stocks recovered. But options traders remained nervous, pushing the put-call ratio--a contrarian sentiment indicator--into bullish territory.
