Noted: A Partridge Arrives On Each Of Those 12 Days

Regarding the table, "On the first day of Christmas, your true love gave to thee..." (Up Front, Dec. 20): During the Christmas season, for the better part of my adult life, I have been amazed that publications make the same error every year when they publish the cost related to "The Twelve Days of Christmas." I never felt obliged to write until my favorite, BUSINESS WEEK, fell victim.

Please note: Partridges in a pear tree were delivered on each of the 12 days; not once, as shown. Two turtledoves were delivered for 11 consecutive days; not once. And so forth. Thus, the actual cost is $72,260, not $15,761. I hope this may prevent some poor soul from acting on this carol with insufficient funds.
