Florida Pounces On The Jaguars
For sports nuts per capita, the Sunshine State must be No.1. It already has new franchises for hockey and baseball (the Florida Panthers and Florida Marlins). And on Nov. 30, Jacksonville beat rivals to snare a National Football League expansion team. The Jacksonville Jaguars gives the state three (with the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers). The franchise's owners include J. Wayne Weaver, who helped launch women's shoe retailer Nine West Group, and Jeb Bush, gubernatorial candidate and son of the ex-President.
