The Second Half Is Looking Brighter All The Time

The U.S. economy lately has looked a lot like a Jackson Pollock canvas: It's hard to tell which way to hang it. Manufacturing output is rising, as factory payrolls shrink. Squishy labor markets in general belie the solid growth in consumer spending. And despite healthy domestic demand, inflation is not in the picture.
