`How Do You Measure Discrimination?'
In reference to "Sniffing out unfair lenders" (Legal Affairs, Oct. 11), bankers agree that discrimination in all of its forms is illegal, and they're working to end any trace of it from the lending process. But how do you measure discrimination? Regulators and lawyers need to assess all the variables that go into making a loan, from a borrower's credit history to debt load. Loans are made and loans are turned down for sound economic and credit reasons.
