Investment Figures Of The Week

A generally mixed week in the financial markets. A rally in the fixed-income
market, which briefly drove the yield of long-bonds below 6.0%, propelled
stocks upward on Sept. 28. Weaker-than-expected home sale data contributed to
the bond rally. However, the markets stabilized on Sept. 29. Oil-drilling and
gold stocks continued to lead the list of laggards. Speculative sentiment, as
measured by the put-call ratio, remained bullish--but less bullish than a week
      ago.
