House Banking Committee Chairman Henry B. Gonzalez (D-Tex.), who was constantly frustrated by Bush Administration stonewalling of his probe of U.S. support for Iraq before the gulf war, isn't getting much more cooperation from the Clinton White House. The committee is still having trouble getting documents on allegedly illegal loans to Iraq by the Atlanta branch of Italy's Banca Nazionale del Lavoro. Staffers trying to wrap up a report on BNL aren't sure whether the Clintonites have discovered executive privilege or whether they just haven't gotten their act together.
