Taco Bell's Rocky Horror Show
When a squirrel and a moose leave Frostbite Falls, Minn., for Hollywood, things are bound to go wrong. Sure enough, on Apr. 12, Taco Bell announced it was recalling 80,000 inflatable balls featuring cartoon icons Rocky and Bullwinkle after kids got dizzy trying to blow them up. Then there was the coast-to-coast publicity trip by Rocky and Bullwinkle in a '62 Chevrolet Impala convertible. The promotion was supposed to convince McDonald's fan Bill Clinton to alter his eating habits. But the Los Angeles send-off was scrapped for lack of interest as a result of the Rodney King trial. Could it get worse? Well, instead of ending up in Washington, the two landed in Clinton, Ark. At least that blunder was in the script.
