Maybe That European Trip Isn't So Smart After All

Your article "A stronger dollar has Americans dreaming of Europe" (Economic Trends, Mar. 29) made me laugh. World Value of the Dollar, published by Bank of America and dated Mar. 6, 1985, tells me that I got 10.47 French francs for $1. Now, you get 5.55. The German mark was 3.43, now 1.63. And you could buy a British pound for $1.05. Today, it will cost you $1.49. So where is the strong dollar now? When the dollar gets up to 1985 levels again, I'll be on the next plane, and you'll have to send my subscription to Europe!
