Talk to a European TV official, and chances are he is boasting about Europe's achievements in last year's Olympics coverage. More than 400 hours of footage, broadcast in razor-sharp images, vividly showcased Europe's prowess in the red-hot race to high-definition TV. Unfortunately, if Europe doesn't get its act together soon, the broadcasts may turn out to be the finale for the Continent's crusade for a vibrant HDTV industry.
