Eager Eyes Await An Armload Of New Handheld Gadgets

In 1992, the buzz of the Winter Consumer Electronic Show was what Apple Computer Inc. called the Personal Digital Assistant. Apple's idea, called Newton, was a tiny handheld computer/personal organizer with wireless communications. As the schedule for Newton production slipped a few months last year, industry wags began wondering if the concept of PDA might be a bit too ambitious.
