The feud between the government and the Hyundai group is escalating. On Apr. 21, the government arrested Chung Mong-Hun, 44, vice-chairman of Hyundai's shipping unit, on tax-evasion charges. The arrested man is a son of Hyundai founder Chung Ju-Yung, who has angered the government by going into politics. The continued harassment of Hyundai is intended to silence the elder Chung and persuade him not to run in the fall presidential elections.
