...While At&T Hooks Up With Ukraine
Like GM, AT&T is starting the new year with a foreign linkup. The telephone giant in December bought its first stake in a foreign phone company, Venezuela's CANTV. On Jan. 14, it made a much bigger splash by announcing it will hold 39% of a new company that will build, gwn, and run Ukraine's long-distance network. Its partners are PTT Telecom Netherlands with 10% and the Ukrainian government with 51%.
