Are The Teamsters Clean At Last?
The federal government's long campaign to clean up the International Brotherhood of Teamsters culminated in the mid-December election of a dissident local leader to the union's presidency. The victor, Ronald Carey, who won the union's first direct election for its top officers, will be the first Teamsters leader in more than four decades to have no alleged links to organized crime.
