Corporate-sponsored travel by members of Congress makes White House Chief of Staff John H. Sununu look like a stay-at-home. A study by the watchdog group Public Citizen found that lawmakers took nearly 4,000 free trips in 1989 and 1990. Leading sponsors were the Chicago commodities exchanges, the National Cable Television Assn., privately held Connell Rice & Sugar Co., and the National Association of Broadcasters. Among the most frequent flyers: Representative Charles W. Stenholm (D-Tex.) and House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Dan Rostenkowski (D-Ill.).
