Bill Koch has always been an outsider. As a 40-year-old, Koch waged a proxy fight against them for control of the business. The bid failed, but the brothers paid him $550 million to go away. Eleven years later, Koch is again fighting for attention. Only this time, he's trying to elbow into the elite club of yacht-racing champions.
