When it comes to trading, U. S. securities firms lead the world in innovative, high-tech financial products and strategies. Even the enormously rich and powerful Japanese banks and securities firms are scrambling to catch up to U. S. firms in Tokyo, their own backyard. For example, American investment banks invented the Nikkei put warrant, an instrument linked to the Japanese stock market, and they dominate the market for it.
