Investment Figures Of The Week

      The stock market went into the Memorial Day weekend like a lamb and came out 
      of it like a lion. The Dow Jones industrial average climbed 45 points on May 
      28, spurred by news that sales of existing homes had risen smartly. The 
      market's gains continued on May 29 with an 11-point increase. Cyclical stocks 
      showed particular strength. But the bond market showed little energy. Interest 
      rates and the dollar held steady, and overseas bourses likewise treaded water.
