Travel Lightly
HERITAGE SPIRIT ORBIS TERRARUM by MONTBLANC
This playful warm-weather watch is the perfect accessory for your next vacation. It displays the time in 24 different cities around its dial, and the map of the Northern Hemisphere at the center rotates over the course of the day—continents go light in the morning and dark as nighttime falls. It can also take a beating: Made of stainless steel, it’s water-resistant to 30 meters. $5,800
For a sporty look, swap out the black alligator strap for light-colored canvas or distressed leather
Get This Hot
CHARCOAL GRILL by NORCAL OVENWORKS
For a big summer cookout—a whole pig roasted in the garden, chickens and sausages crackling over a fire—there’s no sturdier or more adaptable piece of machinery than a simple South American-style grill. California-based NorCal Ovenworks lets you custom-order impressive beauties with wheel-driven hoists so you can tinker with how close the meat gets to the heat. Go for a Uruguayan grill with a tilting grate, an Argentine one with a brasero on the side for making embers, or a heavy-duty all-charcoal model with an adjustable grate set over the coals (like the one pictured below). From $850
A whole-animal rotisserie can be added for $500
NorCal sells grilling accessories such as poultry hooks, roasting forks for pigs, and a chorizo fork set

S600 MAYBACH by MERCEDES-BENZ
Mercedes has revived the Maybach, which first appeared in 1918, with the all-new S600 sedan. It combines Mercedes’s supreme technology in a massive V12 engine with Maybach’s elite craftsmanship. But it’s more than just a bigger version of Merc’s famous S-Class. The S600 pulls 523 horsepower with a zero to 60 mph sprint time of 5 seconds flat. The seven-speed automatic transmission is supersmooth and completely silent. Exotic wood, chrome, and hand-stitched leather line the interior. A panoramic sunroof retracts, as do noir blinds and footrests. In the rear there are worktable consoles, large-screen TVs, and a hidden refrigerator. And the lamb’s wool floor mats are 2 inches thick and as soft as your favorite cashmere sweater. From $191,000
The car also comes in a longer Pullman version; the fully armored model starts at $1 million
Bring the Sun Indoors
PHOTOGRAPHY by TEALIA ELLIS RITTER
These three bright prints are part of 36-year-old Ellis Ritter’s Winter Clings to Parts of Us series, sold exclusively by design group Egg Collective in New York. Ellis Ritter, who lives and works in rural Connecticut, says the inspiration for the work was “the act of spreading my father’s ashes on the farm he lived on.” Each color negative has been stained by materials that were thrown, dropped, or spread onto the film’s surface before printing, she explains. The colorful work comes framed in white. From $4,000

BATHING SUITS by TOMAS MAIER
German designer Tomas Maier, creative director of Bottega Veneta, also heads up his namesake brand of wardrobe staples, which recently expanded after an investment from Kering. Maier is known for his smart swimwear, featuring strong shapes in mostly simple colors. The suits are unadorned and flattering—the men’s shorts are neither too long nor too short (and comfortable where they need to be), and the fabric of the women’s suits has the perfect amount of suck-in power. Lightweight shell shorts in army, $255; black bandeau swimsuit, $380
The trunks run small; order a size up from your normal fit
One-piece suits are in—this black, strapless option is both forgiving and sexy
Row Without a River
WATERROWER by JOHN DUKE
The original WaterRower, an ergometer designed by former U.S. National Team rower John Duke, came out 27 years ago. This sleek update is the first exercise machine to be sold at the Museum of Modern Art Store in New York, where it shares floor space with the Eames lounge chair and Bauhaus lighting fixtures. It’s beautifully designed—and punishing. As a cardio and strength machine, the WaterRower engages more than 80 percent of your body’s muscle mass and burns upwards of 600 calories an hour. Unlike the usual erg, which uses either a vertically propped fan or hydraulic pistons for resistance, it features an audibly whooshing water chamber that houses oarlike horizontal blades, providing the closest possible feeling to racing on the Charles. The harder you work, the more pull you’ll get. $1,500
The machine appears in Season 1 of Netflix’s House of Cards—the main character, Frank Underwood, uses one vigorously
The body of the WaterRower is made of Appalachian walnut
When not in use, it can be stored vertically against a wall
Keep Cool
POLO SHIRT by ORLEY
Founded in 2012 by two brothers, Matthew and Alex Orley, and Matt’s now-wife, Samantha, New York’s Orley won immediate attention for its playful take on retro knitwear. The line of colorful men’s sweaters quickly evolved into a full label. Knits remain central to the brand, as do polos like this, made of fine Italian cotton and manufactured in Italy using a custom microstitch. It’s substantial enough to wear on its own or under a lightweight blazer, yet not too heavy for summer’s impending swelter. $345
The shirt also comes in stripes and a mosaic print
Sparkle Every Day
RISING SUN NECKLACE by ASTLEY CLARKE
This cheerful necklace from British brand Astley Clarke’s Rising Sun collection, featuring hand-set diamonds in 14K yellow gold, will add some subtle daytime shine to a summer outfit. Astley Clarke, founded in 2006, started out as an online-only jeweler specializing in delicate rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. It quickly caught on among British celebrities—Sienna Miller and Suki Waterhouse are fans—and has since expanded to high-end department stores in the U.K. and the U.S., including Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. $1,950
The 18-inch necklace should hit around your breastbone
Serve Them Up Cold
COME AS YOU ARE BAR CART by CHRISTOPHE DE LA FONTAINE
Mixing a drink with the aid of a vintage-inspired bar cart is a lot more satisfying than digging through your cupboard for that leftover whiskey. German design firm Dante Goods and Bads has created an exaggerated version of the classic 1960s serving tray with oversize wheels and a modern steel finish. It’s easily stashed between couches or alongside a kitchen island, and, thanks to its mobility, can follow the party wherever it migrates. $1,625
Fill the bottom with the usual suspects—gin, vodka, rum, whiskey, tequila—and put extra-credit liqueurs, like St. Germain, crème de cassis, and Campari, up top
An outer railing unites two tempered-glass trays

SMALL SEEMA SATCHEL by BYREDO
Best known for its high-end candles and perfumes, Swedish brand Byredo recently expanded into chic leather goods with a handbag line called Nécessaire de Voyage. The inaugural, six-piece collection, available exclusively at Barneys New York, features structured, ladylike shapes in simple beiges, blacks, and browns. This little guy is great for evenings out or work functions—the detachable shoulder strap is convenient for hands-free imbibing. $1,900
Byredo founder Ben Gorham, a former professional basketball player in Sweden, designs every bag
