{"id":20438,"date":"2016-05-31T19:15:12","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T19:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/distribution\/blog\/2016-05-31\/online-video-heading\/"},"modified":"2016-05-31T19:24:19","modified_gmt":"2016-05-31T19:24:19","slug":"online-video-heading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/distribution\/blog\/2016-05-31\/online-video-heading\/","title":{"rendered":"Josh Rucci talks the future of online video at INMA World Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Josh Rucci,\u00a0GM and Global Head, Bloomberg Content Service, addressed\u00a0the future of video as part of the International News Media Association\u2019s (INMA) 2016 World Congress on May 17th.<\/p>\n<p>In a session entitled, &#8220;Where Online Video is Heading,&#8221; Rucci addressed the intersection of\u00a0traditional television and digital\/online video, as well as what media companies are doing to address this trend,\u00a0both from an audience and revenue standpoint. Joining Rucci for the discussion were\u00a0Micah Gelman,\u00a0Director of Video, The Washington Post and\u00a0Hanna Kouri,\u00a0Channel Director, ISTV.<\/p>\n<p>According to INMA, mobile traffic in the third quarter of 2015 was 65% higher than one year earlier \u2014 driven by video consumption on mobile devices. It is estimated that 70% of all mobile data traffic will be from video by 2021.<\/p>\n<p>To get ahead of this trend, Rucci said, Bloomberg&#8217;s strategy includes leveraging traditional media for resources, execution, talent and technology, and building talented digital native teams across edit, product and social groups.<\/p>\n<p>Additional strategies\u00a0include focusing on premium content and embracing distribution platforms.\u00a0Rucci pointed to Bloomberg TV&#8217;s recent launches\u00a0<em>Big Problems, Big Thinkers <\/em>and\u00a0<em>Hello World,\u00a0<\/em>as\u00a0examples of
