An extension of a temporary ban on fishing for yellowfin, bigeye, bluefin, and skipjack tuna in the Mexican waters of the Pacific Ocean went into effect Sept. 29, in accordance with a tuna fishing treaty signed in June 2013, according to a notice in Mexico’s Diario Oficial de la Federacion, which is similar to the U.S. Federal Register. The initial closure was based on a 2013 agreement with the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, an international organization with more than 20 country members.
