Nearly one year ago, Bloomberg photographer Kelvin Ma was standing right near the finish line at the Boston Marathon as one of the highest-profile acts of terror in the U.S. took place. Kelvin took the well-known photo of wheelchair-bound Jeff Bauman moments after he looked into the eyes of the man who tried to kill him.

The photo earned a Sigma Delta Chi Award in the Best Breaking News category by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). Kelvin Ma will be honored at the awards banquet on June 20 in Washington.
