NEW YORK AND LONDON — Today, Bloomberg executives unveiled the
\nBloomberg App Portal, a new function on the Bloomberg
\nProfessional services that gives subscribers access to a range
\nof specialty applications powered\u00a0by data and news.<\/p>\n

Applications on the Bloomberg App Portal are developed by
\nsoftware companies, financial institutions, academics and other
\nthird parties. The Bloomberg App Portal enables Bloomberg
\nsubscribers to enhance their user experience by adding specialty
\nfeatures and tools that complement those available on the
\nBloomberg Professional service.<\/p>\n

Currently, there are more than 45 applications available on the
\nBloomberg App Portal across a variety of categories including,
\ndata analysis, news and research, portfolio management and risk
\nanalysis, valuation and pricing, data visualization and
\ntechnical analysis. Institutional clients can also use the
\nBloomberg App Portal to deploy proprietary software tools to
\ntheir own employees and clients.<\/p>\n

\u201cCultivating the third-party developer community is critical to
\nenhancing the user experience and growing the value of the
\nBloomberg Professional service,\u201d said Tom Secunda, co-founder
\nand Global Head of Bloomberg\u2019s Financial Products and Services
\ngroup. \u201cThe Bloomberg App Portal extends our commitment to
\nembrace innovation and fuel creativity in the financial
\nmarketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applications are launched from the APPS <GO>
\nhomepage and run within a Bloomberg Launchpad workspace,
\nwhich offers data integration and collaboration features.<\/p>\n

\u201cSoftware developers with a great idea, but limited global
\nreach, can work with Bloomberg to get in front of financial
\nprofessionals around the world virtually overnight,\u201d said
\nStanley Young, chief executive officer of Bloomberg\u2019s Enterprise
\nProducts and Solutions business. \u201cOur intention is to complement
\nBloomberg\u2019s existing functionality with third-party applications
\nthat enable our clients to achieve success.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u00a0Bloomberg App Portal team, led by Claudio
\nStorelli, follows a formal application review and selection
\nprotocol. Once selected, application developers receive
\ntechnical and business support from the Bloomberg team as part
\nof an on-boarding and software quality assurance process.<\/p>\n

License fees for applications on the Bloomberg App Portal are
\nseparate from the Bloomberg professional service subscription
\nand vary by application and package. Users can currently
\ndownload and review virtually all applications for a preview
\nperiod before purchase is required.<\/p>\n
