NEW YORK — Bloomberg View today announced that Timothy L.
\nO\u2019Brien has been named to the new position of Publisher. O\u2019Brien
\nis former Executive Editor of The Huffington Post and will
\noversee the promotion of View content worldwide, extending the
\nView brand in global media markets and assisting its continued
\ngrowth as an influential forum on the Web. <\/p>\n

\u201cTim is an outstanding addition to our team: he\u2019s an innovator
\nwith extraordinary skills as a journalist and as a promoter of
\njournalism,\u201d said David Shipley, Executive Editor of Bloomberg
\nView. \u201cWe\u2019ve spent the last two years establishing View as a
\nvital hub for thoughtful opinion and analysis. Tim will help us
\nengage even more readers around the globe.\u201d <\/p>\n

As publisher, O\u2019Brien will forge strategic partnerships to
\nintroduce View to more readers in the U.S. and around the world,
\nbuilding on View\u2019s brand of thoughtful, solution-oriented
\nopinion. He will further leverage the resources of Bloomberg LP
\nto enhance View\u2019s brand. <\/p>\n

At The Huffington Post, O\u2019Brien helped oversee a newsroom of
\nmore than 400 editors and reporters. He edited and oversaw a
\nten-part series about wounded veterans returning from Iraq and
\nAfghanistan for which The Huffington Post won a 2012 Pulitzer
\nPrize. <\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien oversaw the Sunday Business section of The New York
\nTimes from 2006 to 2010. He also helped oversee the team which
\nproduced \u201cThe Reckoning,\u201d a series that examined the roots of
\nthe 2008 financial crisis and which was a Pulitzer Prize
\nfinalist and Loeb Award winner. O\u2019Brien was previously a staff
\nwriter for the paper. While at the Times, he won a Loeb Award
\nfor Distinguished Business Journalism in 1999. He previously
\nworked for The Wall Street Journal, Talk magazine and National
\nGeographic. <\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien is currently writing a series of historical thrillers
\nfor Random House that is set in the post-Civil War era. The
\nfirst of these novels, \u201cThe Lincoln Conspiracy,\u201d a tale of
\nmurder and intrigue in post-Civil War Washington, was published
\nin 2012. He is also the author of \u201cTrumpNation: The Art of Being
\nthe Donald,\u201d and \u201cBad Bet: The Inside Story of the Glamour,
\nGlitz, and Danger of America\u2019s Gambling Industry.\u201d <\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien has a B.A. cum laude in literature from Georgetown
\nUniversity, an M.A. in U.S. History from Columbia University, an
\nM.S. in Journalism from Columbia University, and an MBA from
\nColumbia University. He has lived and worked in Europe, South
\nAmerica and Asia. <\/p>\n
